Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC Impronta del Fondatore
A wine whose roots lie in the history and passion of Santa Margherita, and which represents the “pioneering” spirit revealed in the imprint given by the company’s founder, Count Gaetano Marzotto, who – with this wine – laid the foundations for a real revolution in Italian winemaking. In 1960, in fact, Santa Margherita’s enologists had the brilliant brainwave of vinifying the copper-colored grapes of the Pinot Grigio variety, but avoiding any contact of the skins with the must and so preventing the wine from becoming tannic or taking on a copper-like hue. The loss of aromatic substances due to excluding the skins was limited by the transfer of a considerable part of these into the juice during the summer, thanks to the notable thermal excursion in the mountainous areas of the Alto Adige. This combination of terroir, grape variety and winemaking technique thus gave origin to a wine of great personality: one with the imprint of a vision which becomes a wine that seduces you with its elegance and versatility.
